The Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra opens its Spring Symphonies series at the City Hall with a programme called Resonance and Reflections. Violinist Jordan Brooks – fresh off winning the Joseph Bologne International Violin Competition and a Royal College of Music scholarship student – takes the solo spot in Britten’s Violin Concerto, alongside PΓ€rt’s Cantus in Memoriam Benjamin Britten and Schumann’s “Rhenish” Symphony. The Cape Town Youth Wind Ensemble opens the evening as curtain-raiser, and Daniel Raiskin, currently chief conductor of the JanΓ‘Δek Philharmonic Ostrava, is on the podium.
