Cape Town City Ballet brings back Sean Bovim’s Swingtime after it sold out at this year’s Maynardville Festival, this time at the Adam Small Theatre Complex in Retreat. The story follows Mr Bojangles, owner of a fictional swing club, as he wanders back through his memories – old flames, dance-offs, brass bands, the works. It’s more theatrical variety show than strict ballet, so don’t come expecting tutus and Tchaikovsky. Three performances over two days, so there’s a bit of flexibility if a weeknight doesn’t suit.
